Publix Super Savers

Wow! I'm back into the savings game! After church (and a much needed nap) Halley and I headed out to Bruno's (I will post about this trip in a separate post) and Publix. My Publix trip was GREAT. Here is what I purchased:

The picture is cloudy, so I will list what I purchased along with the price after the Q
4- 12 pack A&W and 7 Up $5.99
2- Digiorno Pizza $3.75 each
1 - 96 count Huggies $11.50
1- Huggies Soft Skin Wipes - FREE w/ *Publix Promise*
2- Cashew Sandies $1 each
1- Publix Cocoa Butter - FREE
1- Huggies Natural Wipes - FREE
1- Publix Alcohol - FREE
1- Publix Iced Tea - $.01
2- 3 lb bags Fuji Apples - $1.50 each
1- 24 bottles Aquafina $3.99

Regular Price: $86.41
-$11.38 (sales)
-$30.67 (coupons)
Total OOP: $37.39

Total Savings: 57%

*B/C of the Publix Promise I recieved the Huggies wipes for free! They rang up for $6.99 instead of $5.99, so my money was refunded.

I had lots of savings highlights which made me very happy! For instance, the big box of Huggies were on sale for $19.99. I had a Publix Q for $5, a Target Q for $1.50, and a Manufacturer's Q for $2. That means I paid $12 for the Huggies. If you have a child that is under 2, you should definetly sign up for the Publix Baby Club. This week, I recieved several great coupons in the mail for joining the club. I also recieved the cocoa butter, alcohol, small pack of Huggies wipes free with Baby Club Qs. I had a coupon for every item that I purchased except for the Aquafina water, but it was on sale...of course!

Once I got home, I checked over my reciept and found a few mistakes, so I returned to the store and got credit for a few items. I will try to make a practice of checking my reciept before I leave the store.

I really enjoyed my trip to Publix and I'm looking forward to more great deals!

When I got home and checked the mail, I had a coupon for $5/$30. Uggh, I could have used that too! But there's always next week. Or I just may give the coupon away to a friend b/c it expires on August 19. I may not go back to Publix before that. Also, I should have printed 2 more of the Pilsbury Qs and I could have saved $1.40 more- don't laugh, it adds up! I'm still learning about all this, so mistakes are going to be made. Also, my lunchables purchase qualifies me for the $10 JCPenney gift card. You can find out how to get your own here.

A big thanks to Sarah at Fiddledeedee for all the coupon match ups. Check out the Publix Super Savers Post on her blog to see the deals that others have found.

Publix Super Savers

Halley and I made a trip to Publix this afternoon. I found some great deals thanks to Sarah at Fiddledeedee. She tells you what's on sale at Publix and also has links to printable coupons that go along with the deals. Besides checking out her blog another tip to saving is to plan your meals before going to the store. There is nothing worse than having to run to the store (with a toddler) for one missing ingrdient. I like to write our meals for the week down on a calendar. Then I look through the recipes to see what I am lacking. I also coordinate our meals around what I already have on hand and what is on sale that week.

The picture above shows what I purchased today. My total before coupons was $77.51. I had store coupons totaling $7.05, vendor coupons totaling $14.65, advertised special savings (mainly buy one, get one bogo deals) totaling $23.47, and advantage buy savings of $.87. After coupons and sales, my total was $55.81 for a savings of 30%. Nearly everything I bought was on sale and/or I had a coupon to go with it.

One other interesting tid bit...I went to the bank and got $60 cash, but I made a stop at Moe's and spent $4, leaving me with $56...do you remember that I told you my total was $55.81. Wow!

Super Saturday Savings

A friend of mine named Tracey contacted me this week about all the savings she's been getting at CVS and Publix. She asked if I was interested in learning the couponing ropes. I'm all for a great deal, so of course I said yes. I've been reading blogs like fiddledeedeeblog.blogspot.com, moneysavingmom.com, and couponmom.com to learn the ropes. Yesterday, I stepped out and saved us some money! Now that we're having twins and expanding from a family of 3 to a family of five in 6 short months, this is a great time to get started on cutting the food budget! Thx Tracey. Here is what I bought at CVS.

Let me explain why I have such random items. These items cost me a total of $15.91 oop (out of pocket) (excluding the phone cards that I bought with a second transaction). However, I got extra care bucks (ECBs) totaling $14.46 plus a coupon for a free $25 giftcard with a new or transferred prescription in return! ECBs can be used on future purchases at CVS. With my "free money" I purchased the $10 phone cards which were buy 1 get one free! That means I got a total of $20 in minutes to call Keisha in South Africa for absolutely FREE! At the end of the day I still have $4 to roll over on my next purchase and the $25 gift card coupon. Now that's a great day at CVS to me! What do you think?

My trip to Publix took some planning, but it wasn't hard b/c those blogs told me exactly what to buy and where to print out the coupons. Here is what I purchased at Publix.

Publix had a coupon for $5/$35 ($5 off a $35 purchase). My total came up to $34.17 (but it would have been $49.31 if the items purchased weren't on sale) so I purchased the Snickers bar to put me over $35. After my coupons my total was $20.02! Can you believe it? I cut the bill by more than half. The key was to buy things that were on sale or buy one get one free (BOGO) and use a coupon on top of that. I'm telling you, the internet and good friends can teach you anything! I have so many ideas for what I can do with the extra money we're going to save...did I mention we are about to have twins?!!!!
